Luis Lacalle Pou also did not approve the invitation for March 1 of President Daniel Ortega and Miguel Díaz Canel
The outgoing president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, did not approve the invitations turned to Nicolás Maduro; to the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, nor that of the Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel for the inauguration of the elected president Yamandú Orsi to be held on March 1.
According to the newspaper The country of UruguayOrsi sent the guest list to their swearing in which Maduro, Ortega and Díaz-Canel were included. However, Lacalle Pou dismissed them approved since it is the power of the head of state to organize the investiture ceremony.
The decision was already aware of Orsi and his team for several days, according to the newspaper.
The past January 4Edmundo González Urrutia visited Uruguay and met with Luis Lacalle Pou, who recognized him as elected president of Venezuela.
That day, González pointed out via X that he handed the president a documentary testimony of the Civic Gesta of Venezuelans. “The minutes that testify the triumph of change.”

Two days laterthe outgoing president of Uruguay reiterated his recognition as president elected to Edmundo González Urrutia, while noting that in Venezuela what is currently a dictatorship.
«For us he is the president -elect legitimately from Venezuela, not recognized. From the beginning we claim the presentation of the minutes, which were not given. Obviously there has been fraud and we have supported the legitimate choice, ”said Lacalle Pou.
In his opinion, the administration of Nicolás Maduro is “pulling everywhere” in order to remain in power and, in that sense, he said that he uses everything that is within his reach – they are legal or not – to fulfill his mission ; with which he responded to the criticisms of the Venezuelan head of state that he did in recent days.
Lacalle Pou’s position is diametrically opposed to that of the Broad Front, since that instance -today by Yamandú Orsi, have made it clear that the institutional position they seek to defend is that Uruguay must invite all those states with which Diplomatic relations are maintained, regardless of political signs or the characteristics of governments.
