In December, formal jobs in the private sector increased by 6.3% if compared to the same period last year, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).
According to the monetary entity, in the last month of the year 4,446,000 people were registered in the form of this sector, that is, 265,000 more than was in the same month of 2023.
By sectors, it was the services that registered the greatest jobs with 2’155,000. This item recorded an advance of 3.4%. This item was followed by trade with 724,000 positions and agricultural with 627,000.
The data also revealed that manufacturing obtained 489,000 positions in December, while construction 229,000 and mining 125,000. For its part, Fisheries was the only one that recorded red results with a drop of 4.6% and 20,000 people on electronic form.
United States impact
On the other hand, the Central Manager of Economic Studies of the BCR, Adrián Armas, referred to the commercial war after tariffs imposed by the United States. In that sense, he said that at the moment the impact for the Peruvian economy would be limited.
“It is obviously something that we must continue monitoring,” the official explained and indicated that one must see how the decision of the northern country impacts the world economy and mineral prices.
