The Panamanian Passport Authority (APAP) issued a total of 10,603 electronic passports in February, achieving a collection of B/.968,568.00 in favor of the National Treasury.
According to the APAP, 7,763 passports were processed at the central office; in the province of Chiriquí, 883 were issued and in the province of Colón, 600 passports were requested.
While in the province of Coclé, 227 passports were processed; 73 in Bocas del Toro; 372 in the province of Herrera, and 309 in Veraguas.
For its part, in the foreign service, embassies and consulates, 376 passports were issued.
On February 21, the highest number of passports issued since the pandemic began, with 722 applications nationwide, was reported, APAP indicated.
In total, in the first two months of the year, the APAP processed 21,400 passports.
Omar Ahumada, general administrator of the APAP, said that it is estimated that at the end of the year the figures will be similar to those of 2019 when the entity achieved an income of B/.12 million.
