The German ambassador to Panama, Martina Klumpp, spoke this Friday on Radio Panama about the war between Russia and Ukraine from a European perspective, and the concerns that are going through on the eighth day of war.

He indicated that they had been seeing Russian troops approaching Chernobyl for a few days, “which evokes horrendous memories of 1986.”

He stated that last Sunday an extraordinary session of his parliament was held, in which the chancellor has set a pattern and drawn the dimension of what happened, where he clearly said that we are at a turning point in history.

The diplomat highlighted the five tasks formulated by the foreign minister: “The first thing is support for Ukraine; the second thing is to try to reach talks with President Putin to stop this and act on the sanctions at the same time; the third thing is that we assume the historical challenge in which we find ourselves; the fourth thing is to design now, yes, an energy policy that drastically reduces our dependency on fossil imports from Russia; the fifth is to readjust our foreign policy together with our partners in the European Union”.
