The Panamanians who aspire to preside over the party entered the last stage of the campaign ahead of the internal elections this Sunday, March 6.
This Thursday, March 3, is the last day to ask for votes from the conventional members of the Panameñista Party, reported the National Elections Commission of the political group.
As of 11:59 pm this Thursday, the period of electoral propaganda ends and the ban will begin until the day of the elections. There are two candidates who are vying for the party: former deputy Katleen Levy and José Isabel Blandón, current president.
These internal elections had several setbacks at the beginning of the year due to the appeals filed against the electoral calendar and the increase in cases of Covid-19 in the country.
Initially, the party’s National Convention was scheduled for Sunday, January 23. But it was postponed to February 20. However, a few weeks earlier the elections were suspended for the second time and scheduled for this March 6.
In these elections, where 1,600 conventional voters are entitled to vote, the Panamanians will also elect the national directory, the Court of Honor and Discipline, the defender of the members, the prosecutor and the deputy prosecutor; as well as the sectoral executive secretariats, provincial and regional board of directors, board of directors of the Secretariat for Women and the Secretariat for Youth.
