These stamps have different security measures that allow them to be more reliable, such as a unique identification code for each immigration inspector and a code allusive to the control post in which they serve, so that each stamp remains under the exclusive responsibility and non-transferable from the assigned official.
Likewise, they have other security elements that will be handled under strict confidentiality by the immigration agency and will be used according to a specific protocol that determines the technical details, the mechanism of use and the responsibilities of the public servants assigned to their use. .
The director of Migrations, Ángeles Arriola, pointed out that the modification project (originated from the Directorate of Migratory Movement) was based on the need to increase security in this aspect, in view of the fact that there have already been complaints about improper use by officials. and the difficulty involved in identifying those responsible, this due to the fact that the previous seals were the same and required the official’s signature as the only distinctive.
With the new security measures, the signature is suppressed and it is possible to raise security standards with the reduction of the official’s intervention in the process of stamping passports and entrance tickets to the country, he emphasized.
Thanks to this implementation, the General Directorate of Migration aims to prevent possible cases of corruption related to the improper use of entry and exit stamps from the national territory, or to mitigate the risk of forgery of the same for criminal purposes.
