“We are a public service and our duty is to illuminate the lives of millions of Peruvians,” Trelles said.
Luz del Sur operates in 65 districts of Metropolitan Lima, Cañete and Huarochirí, attending 1.3 million customers.
The executive said that Luz del Sur has a sustainability committee with guidelines for the environmental and governance.
He highlighted the company’s electromobility project: “In 2023 we began to change the energy matrix of our operational vehicles, trucks, Vans, trucks. Now they are 100 % electric.”
“We have 98 100 % electric vehicles in our operation and this is the contribution that we want to give public transport, transport in general.” The full matrix will change it next year.
“We are the most contaminated city, one of the most contaminated in South America and we are just changing this matrix to help the environment with zero emissions and zero noise,” he said.
“We are promoting electromobility,” he said.
Trelles stressed that there are several efforts, not only of southern light, but of other companies to implement electricity recharge stations to be able to make long trips and load the vehicle.
