CONAB estimates record harvest of 325.7 million tons

Grain harvest expected to reach 298.6 million tons, says Conab

The National Supply Company (Conab) estimates that the production of the 2024/25 Brazilian grain crop will be the largest ever produced in the country, with 325.7 million tons of grain. The volume represents the growth of 9.4% above the previous crop. The data are in the 5th survey of the 2024/25 grain crop, released by the company on Thursday (13).CONAB estimates record harvest of 325.7 million tons

Performance is mainly due to the 2.1% increase in the cultivated area, estimated at 81.6 million hectares, and the 7.1% recovery in the average crop productivity, which should reach 3,990 kilos per hectare.

The data point to an increase in total corn production, with expected production of 122 million tons, up 5.5% over the harvest in the previous cycle. The harvest of the first cereal crop already reaches 13.3% of the planted area.

“This season, there was a 6.6% reduction in the area sown to the 1st crop corn. But the drop was offset by the average productivity gain, 9.9% higher than in the previous crop. 23.6 million tons are harvested in this first cycle alone, “said Conab.

Regarding the second crop of corn, Conab reported that sowing was done in 18.8% of the area and that weather conditions are favorable. Because of this, the projection is growth of 2.4% for the planting area, expecting a production of 96 million tons, which represents a growth of 6.4%.

The soy is already 14.8% of the area already harvested. The production of oilseed is expected to reach 166 million tons, ie 18.3 million tons above the total produced in the previous crop.

“The result reflects an increase in the area intended for culture, combined with the recovery of average productivity in the country’s crops. Climate conditions were favorable, especially in Paraná, Santa Catarina and most Midwest states. Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul, which recorded water restriction from mid -December, “said Conab.

The area intended for rice planting should reach 1.7 million hectares, volume 6.4% higher than the area cultivated in the previous crop. With the sowing practically completed, Conab warns that high temperatures and water reduction in some regions of Rio Grande do Sul, the largest producer in the country, cause concerns to producers, although they do not indicate a reduction in average productivity.

Conab estimates that production reaches 11.8 million tons, up 11.4% compared to the harvest of the last harvest.

According to the bulletin released by Conab, an increase in the bean crop is expected, with the three legume crops reaching 3.3 million tons. The first crop of the product was already 47% of the area harvested on February 10. Productivity was increased, with estimated production of 1.1 million tons.

For the second bean crop, the planting is in the early stages and the expense is that the harvest reaches 1.46 million tons. For the third crop, the projection is that 778.9 thousand tons be harvested.

In the case of cotton, the planting area was estimated at 2 million hectares, with expectation of growth of 4.8%.

“Fiber sowing is over 87% of the expected area and the perspective points to a pluma production by 3.8 million tons, a new record for the culture if the result is confirmed,” the company said.

For winter crops, the first estimates, resulting from statistical models, market analysis, climate forecasts and preliminary information, indicate wheat production, the main product cultivated, at 9.1 million tons. The beginning of planting in Paraná begins from mid -April and Rio Grande do Sul in May. The states represent 80% of the country’s tritic production.
