In this edition of YnnovadoresJuan Flores spoke with Jaime Chiarella, CEO and founder of Riqra, the Digital platform which transformed the relationship between wineries and large companies of Mass consumption In Peru.
Jaime Chiarella, with only 30 years, demonstrated exceptional vision and boldness by identifying a change: “I was always attracted to mass consumption. In Peru, the name ‘winery’ resonates in all “said Chiarella.
Inspired by the need to modernize the distribution of mass consumption products, Chialla created Cinepapaya, a platform that sought to connect the wineries directly with their distributors and manufacturers.
“We create cinepapaya to connect the wineries with their distributors and manufacturers,” CHIARELLA EXPLAIN.
A promising business model, but challenging. “We sell 250 thousand dollars a month on requests from warehouses to the distributors, we broke the paradigm!” Chiarella exclaims.
However, the business model required a large capital investment, which became an obstacle at that time.
Before the lack of investment, Chiarella and her team decided to pivot towards a software business model (SAAS). “The market and the lack of investment made us pivot towards a SERVICE software business model”says Chiarella.
A key impulse: the support of Startup Peru
In this transformation process, the Peruvian government played a fundamental role through Startup Peru, one of the first funds that support the creation of innovative business models. “Something that did the government well was to create Startup Peru, one of the first funds that helps you create your business model. It was the first sun that entered the Riqra account,”recalls Chiarella.
