School buses will have monitors to ensure that students comply with biosecurity measures

School bus drivers will be assisted by monitors who will be in charge of ensuring that students comply with the biosafety measures required by the health authorities in this return to classes.

These carriers were allowed to take the buses to their maximum capacity (100% capacity) on the condition that their occupants, in addition to the mask, wear masks or face shields, as is the case in the subway and metrobuses.

“Many of the units have monitors, who are the ones who are going to be aware that the minors have all the established biosecurity measures, be it the mask, mask and alcohol gel,” said Elías González, president of the Association of School Buses .

The transporter added that in the event that a driver does not have a monitor, they will have to be aware that they comply with the measures before the vehicle leaves, either from school or from the minors’ homes.

It is expected that Between the third and fourth week of classes, the Land Traffic and Transportation Authority (ATTT) carries out operations to ensure that these units meet the necessary requirements to circulate, and that biosecurity measures are also met.

Gonzalez acknowledged that the contracting of the service they provide is slow and it is expected that this behavior will continue during the first weeks of classes.

“There is very little request for transportation, at least for public schools. I imagine that because of the fear of the pandemic, but Along the way (parents) will realize that it is more feasible to always transport a child in the same car, than in different vehicles on a daily basis”, he commented.

One of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic were the owners and drivers of school buses, who were practically out of circulation for two years, due to the fact that the schools were closed.

In that period, there were more than 80 who had to deliver their units due to the inflexibility of banks and finance companies in granting them more time to pay their loan bills.
