USA and Argentina reinforce position against regimes of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua

The number of political prisoners in Cuba amounts to 1,148, denounces Prisoners Defenders

Miami, United States. – The Secretary of State for the United States, Marco Rubio, and the Foreign Minister of Argentina, Gerardo Werthein, ratified their commitment to the defense of human rights in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and denounced the oppression suffered by the citizens of the three countries under their respective regimes.

During A telephone conversation held on Sundayboth officials analyzed strategies to face the governments of these countries, which Rubio recently described as “enemies of humanity” and responsible for the immigration crisis in the hemisphere. “If it were not for those three regimes, there would be no migration crisis in the hemisphere,” said the US official at a press conference in San José, Costa Rica.

The alliance between the United States and Argentina extends to other areas of cooperation, such as the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, telecommunications safety and combating synthetic drug trafficking such as fentanyl. “We celebrated our collaboration with Argentina to deal with these common threats,” said Rubio.

The Secretary of State, of Cuban origin, has maintained a firm position against the island’s regime since he assumed the position. In A January 31st statementemphasized that “the Cuban regime has long supported acts of international terrorism. We urge the regime to put an end to their support for terrorism and stop providing food, housing and medical care to foreign people who perpetrate murders, manufacture bombs and kidnap aircraft, while the Cuban population goes hungry and does not have access to basic health. ”

Rubio, the first Cuban American (and Latin) in occupying the highest diplomatic rank position in Washington, maintains an unwavering position in relation to the island’s regime, which he has described as “hostile” and “destructive” of the country.

At the beginning of February, Rubio said in An interview with Rich Edson, Fox News journalist: “I have no intention of going to Havana with this established regime, except to discuss when they are going to go.”

The journalist had asked the Secretary of State if he contemplated the island as the maximum diplomatic representative of Washington. Rubio responded bluntly: “That regime is a disaster. It has destroyed the country. It is a hostile regime to the United States. And until that changes, I have nothing to talk about with them. ”
