The troubadour Eduardo Sosa died

The Cuban troubadour Eduardo Sosa died in the early hours of Wednesday in Guantanamo, where he was hospitalized as a result of a hemorrhagic stroke.

The news of his death confirmed it in their networks he Cuban Institute of Music (ICM).

Sosa, 52, was admitted in a critical condition since February 3 at the Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto General Hospital, and in the last hours It had been informed of an aggravation of your health status.

According to the medical parts, the artist failed to show improvement in his neurological state and his painting was aggravated due to infectious respiratory complications, to which an acute renal failure joined. Consequently, the forecast had changed “reserved” to “unfavorable.”

Sosa, one of the most representative voices of the contemporary Cuban trova, suffered the stroke during a tour of Guantanamero territory, where he participated in the theatrical crusade and in debates of the X Congress of the Union of writers and artists of Cuba (UNEAC).

Given the magnitude of the stroke, he underwent surgical intervention. The medical authorities then pointed out that while “the operation fulfilled its objective”, it did not “completely solve the problem of the spill” and the following hours would be crucial for their evolution.

Unfortunately, the troubadour could not recover and died after almost 10 days hospitalized, during which the ICM and the press remained giving information about their status and numerous people inside and outside Cuba made votes for their recovery.

An era: Postrove

Eduardo Sosa Laurencio, born on April 18, 1972 in Mayarí Arriba, province of Santiago de Cuba, began his musical career at age 12.

In 1997, he formed the “Postrova” duo with Ernesto Rodríguez, with which he remained active for five years, a period in which, with his rupturist and innovative style, he achieved several musical milestones, as well as his inclusion in the encyclopedic dictionary of Cuban music, participation in the film Amanda’s prophecies and obtaining the April Award in 1998.

The duo recorded two albums: POSTROVAunder the Caribbean Seal Productions and Emi -odeon Spain, and a second album also for Emi -odeon Spain, which remains unpublished and that would have collaborations such as Ana Belén.

After the dissolution of “Postrove” at the end of 2002, Sosa continued a solo career, determined by his interpretive style and brilliant bell, offering concerts throughout the country. Presentations such as Not justin the Museum of Fine Arts in 2003, and Passing thirtyat the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center in 2004.

Its repertoire covers genres such as traditional, ballads and blues, occasionally incorporating works by other Cuban and foreign composers.

In a recent publication on Facebook regarding Sosa’s gravity, his former “Postrova”, Ernesto Rodríguez, dedicated a feeling words to whom he called “brother” and “so many years music.”

“There have never been two beings as different and get along as well as we, Company,” the musician wrote about his colleague, “always with the truth ahead, with admiration and respect, always with good sense of humor, doing everything for Grow and touch the sky. ”

“I am already making the arrangements for some themes that we are going to sing in the second eating season,” he added.

Sosa had run for years the International Festival of the Trova Pepe Sánchez, in a performance that showed his commitment to the song, which he knew so well and that, because of his faithfulness with that inheritance, he dared so many times to renew.

The Cuban Institute of Music announced that its body will be initially veiled in its native Mayarí above, and then in the house of La Trova in the city of Santiago de Cuba, before being buried in the space known as the corridor of the Trovadores del Cementerio of Santa Ifigenia of that city, where the remains of other greats such as Sindo Garay and Compay Segundo rest.
