President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said, on Tuesday (11), that the government wants to strengthen the partnership with the municipalities of the country for federal programs to come to citizens. Lula stressed that no mayor will be discriminated against due to the political party and that the policies are made to “the people of the city.”
“City Hall is something we know, it is famous foundation for the union to work, it is the famous foundation so that governors can succeed, because without this foundation we cannot build the strong house that we need build, ”he said during the opening of the Meeting of new mayors and mayorspromoted by the federal government in Brasilia.
More than 20,000 mayors and municipal managers participate in the meeting that aims to bring municipalities closer to federal programs, with the expansion of local investments, training managers in fundraising and strengthening the federative pact. The event takes place until next Thursday (13), with conferences, workshops and booths of presentation of various public agencies. All ministries will attend municipal managers at the meeting site.
“You will visit the booths that are there, surely, will talk which projects are already putting into practice in your city, where there is money you have not yet fetched, where there is money that you have not yet done The project, which is still missing to happen in your city. And this is an opportunity for you to pan properly in a mining that still has a lot, ”Lula told the mayors.
“There is a lot because in this country they will not stop the things that sign social inclusion. Because I went back to govern to prove once again that this country tends to be a highly developed country and it will only be developed if the city is developed. There is no rich state with poor city, and there is no rich city with the poor state. There must be a sharing of things between the federal government and the municipal government, ”he added.
The activities of the meeting are based on six main thematic axes: good governance, computerized systems and services; Federal Government Program and Actions; Climatic governance; Technical Assistance – Government Transfers; Female leaders; Brazilian Federative Pact.
PAC Selections
Lula also recalled that the federal government prepares another notice of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) selections, aimed at serving priority projects presented by municipalities in essential areas such as health, education, social and urban infrastructure and mobility.
“It’s the first democratic opportunity for us not to choose ideologically the city that will benefit, we don’t choose the city of the party, but we choose that city that best presents the project and that city that needs the most need that the project is executed, ”said Lula.
In 2023, the president announced investments in works and services presented by states and municipalities. The second stage of the team was already scheduled for 2025, so that the mayors elected last year can also present their priority projects.
The new PAC Selections comprises five axes and 27 modalities, performed by the Ministries of Cities, Health, Education, Culture, Justice and Sport.
