Several contractors of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in response to the attempts of President Donald Trump to close the agency.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Washington today Tuesday, states that the freezing of funds for 90 days ordered by Trump’s executive order last month violates both the federal law and the Constitution.

“Neither the president nor his subordinates have authority to frustrate properly promulgated statutes and replace their own financing preferences for which Congress has expressed through legislation,” adds the lawsuit.
Several of the plaintiffs, including the non -profit organization Hias (originally the Hebrew society for immigrants), Management Sciences for Health and Democracy International Inc., say that most of its financing comes from USAID.
The lawsuit also states that some contractors are weighing “temporarily suspend their employees or have enough effective (already committed) by hand to ensure that they can protect US lives and properties abroad during as long as possible.”
