Jauja: A burning candle caused fire in which old woman died

A frightening death found an old woman by not being able to escape from a fire caused inside her bedroom by a burning candle. The unfortunate event was recorded by averaging 21 hours on Sunday in the Rustic Material Housing located on Junín Street in the Bolívar Barrio District of Masma in Jauja, which was inhabited by Valentina Lázaro López (90).

Hours before this fatal outcome, the mother had received the visit of her son Humberto Huamaní Lázaro, from Huancayo, with whom a pleasant afternoon had passed, had lunch together, washed her clothes and bath.

After saying goodbye, the old mother decided to enter her bedroom to sleep in her bed leaving two candles that used to place in a candlestick to honor the memory of her deceased parents, without imagining that when she fell asleep, one of the candles would fall towards the blanket causing a fire.

The intense smoke alerted the neighbors who immediately gave notice to their son -in -law Jorge de la Cruz, who entered the house in order to rescue the old woman but unfortunately it was too late. Valentina’s body was completely calcined.

The police officers of the Apata police station and two prosecutors on duty to carry out the body lifting proceedings were mobilized to the place and dispose of their internment in the morgue of Jauja.

In tears the children who live in Huancayo said that they had organized to periodically visit their parent since she had decided to stay in the humble home that was inherited by her parents and live next to the memories of her long years.
