The Federal Supreme Court (STF) received on Monday (10) a delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to deal with freedom of expression on social networks. 
The delegation, which is part of the Organization of American States (OAS), is in the country to make a diagnosis of the issue and was received by the president of the Supreme Court, Minister Luis Roberto Barroso, and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the processes dealing with those Scammer acts from January 8 and those who suspended social network X operations last year.
During the meeting, Barroso explained to the special rapporteur for the freedom of expression of the IACHR, Pedro Vaca Vaclareal, the performance of the Supreme Court to combat posts that defend aggression to the ministers of the court, attacks on institutions, the politicization of the Armed Forces and a coup.
Moraes also justified that the X blockade occurred due to the company’s decision to remove its legal representative in the country. The minister told the CDIH rapporteur that in five years, only 120 profiles were blocked by illegal content posts and that there is no “widespread management of profile removal.”
The CDIH delegation is in Brazil at the invitation of the Brazilian government and will also meet with representatives of the Executive, Legislative, Public Prosecution Service, organizations that work with human rights and digital platforms to obtain definitive conclusions about the situation of freedom of expression in the country . After passing through Brasilia, the group goes to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
