The next day, the Government of Mexico began the implementation of the “North Border Operation”, whose results highlight the arrest of 179 people, the assurance of 100 firearms and 1,131 kilograms of drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Although one of the objectives is the confiscation of Fentanil, in the first two days there were no seizures of that substance, until February 7, when 8.4 kilograms were secured in Baja California. On Saturday 8, 0.1 kilograms of this drug were confiscated.
Alejandro Martínez considers that the deployment of elements of the National Guard is insufficient to contain the traffic of fentanil and convert at 3,000 kilometers shared on the most vigilated border in the world.
“The illicit drug and migrants do not generally pass the United States through the appropriate sites that are determined by customs and border crossings. We are talking about 10,000 troops, but technology is missing to supervise the border line through different air resources, drones, satellites and also possibly land vehicles to be able to have a greater presence, ”he says.

In the containment of the migratory flow there are also results. In the first days of the “border operation” have been “rescued” 189 migrants, according to official data.
In economic matters, Mexico will put on the table its results of the cleaning operation, through which millions of articles of Asian origin have been seized that illicitly entered national territory.
