Social programs
Last year, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) prohibited the use of resources from social programslike Bolsa Familia, in electronic bets. Dudena admitted difficulty in overseeing due to lack of clarifications from the Supreme.
“The summit of the Constitutional Law of the Judiciary has decided that some way to restrict values of social programs are necessary. What is our difficulty here? Decisions, as they were rendered, bring doubts about how they should be applied. Because of this, the Union Attorney General made an appeal to clarify exactly what is intended with these decisions. Here we meet decisions, what we will do is comply with decisions as soon as it is clear what the decision is, ”said the secretary.
In December, the Attorney General of the Union (AGU) informed the Supreme Court there is difficulties to prevent the use of Bolsa Familia resources in bets. The federal government pointed to barriers to distinguish in the gaming accounts the resources of social benefits and money from other sources of income.
The AGU also requested clarification on whether the determination is also valid for bets state. In the appeal, the government also claimed that, after the payment of social benefits, the resources of bank accounts are private, which makes it difficult to prohibit.
