The Chonchocoro Penitentiary Center (La Paz), considered as a “maximum security” penalty, again generates information after the violent deaths of some inmates and subsequent police interventions carried out in recent days.
This time, a woman tried to enter that jail 2.5 kilos of marijuana through a parcel bound for a deprived of liberty, but the substance was discovered.
At a press conference held this Friday, the director of Penitentiary Regime, Juan Carlos Cuired, reported the incident last day.
He explained that the Encomienda went through a first filter without the control protocols and just, at a second point, its content was discovered.
In this fact, a policeman who was at the door of the first control point and who is now apprehended is involved.
“In Chonchocoro we already have a scanner as in airports, anything that enters has to go through that (first point of) control and (in this case) it has been ignoredthat’s why an investigation was also determined and the police’s apprehension, ”he said.
According to the official, the apprehended policeman is the one who has received the parcel and, jumping the control protocols, “has tried to send the parcel inside the penitentiary center.”
The woman who left the parcel is fully identified, is the couple of the deprived of liberty who was going to receive the substance, but it was not yet located because, after leaving the package, she fled with an unknown direction.
While the inmate involved will now face another process for drug trafficking and, as announced clean, could also be changed to the prison.
