He Executive power authorized the trip of the Foreign Minister, Elmer Schialerto the city of Washington, United States, to participate in a working meeting with representatives of the Inter -American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR).
This meeting, scheduled for February 10, 2025, aims to monitor the recommendations of the “Human Rights Situation in Peru report in the context of social protests”.
The authorization was formalized through Supreme Resolution No. 020-2025-PCM, published in the Extraordinary Bulletin of Legal Standards of the Official Gazette El Peruano. According to the document, the meeting will allow to reaffirm the commitment of the Peruvian State with Human Rights and expose the advances in the implementation of the recommendations issued by the IACHR.
The Foreign Minister is scheduled from February 9 to 12, 2025. In addition to its participation in the meeting with the IACHR, on February 11, Schialer will hold meetings with various government officials of the United States, in order to develop new opportunities in areas of common interest and strengthen the bilateral relationship between both countries.
During the absence of Schialer, the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in charge of Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism. The supreme resolution also requires that the authorization of the trip does not imply tax exemption or release or payments of customs rights of any kind.
