During his speech in the activation of the National Chamber of the Popular Government System, the Minister of Defense G/J Vladimir Padrino López, he was satisfied with the “successful results obtained” by the Lightning Operation of Catatumbo 2025, deployed at the border with Colombia to combat violent and criminal groups in the area.
Padrino López stressed that the results are satisfactory, taking into account the effects obtained since last Friday, when President Nicolás Maduro ordered this deployment.
He informed that to date a “tangible result in terms of camps destruction” has been obtained and explained that more than 20 camps of various kinds have been “dismantled”, including paramilitary training fields, others destined for drug trafficking and Laboratories dedicated to drug production.
The minister pointed out that the area in which they have been working is included in the border area with neighboring Colombia, whose army an efficient coordination has been made on both sides of the border. This area includes about 10 thousand square kilometers, according to the senior official.
To his statements, President Nicolás Maduro reiterated his will to peace throughout the national territory, and his desire for peace for neighboring Colombia, which he continues to offer his unconditional support to find the solution to his internal crisis.
“We want peace for Venezuela, we want peace for Colombia … there must be integration between the two countries,” said the national president, while recalling his proposal as an economic zone between the two countries in the states of Táchira and Zulia.
