More than one hundred students from different faculties of the Private University of Santa Cruz de la Sierra- UPSA, are found in universities of Spain, France, the United States, Italy, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay as part of the 2024- Student Exchange Program- 2025, an opportunity offered by UPSA every year to its students from the fourth semester, to live this academic, cultural and personal experience, thanks to signed agreements with more than 130 universities in America, Europe and Asia.
Its double degree star program through which students can simultaneously obtain a degree at the UPSA degree level and a title of one of the five universities in Latin America and Europe with which it has an agreement: Rennes School of Business (France) , the University Degli Studi Di Genoa (Italy), the San Antonio de Murcia Catholic University (Spain), the University of Navarra (Spain), and the University of Montevideo (Uruguay), has already graduated 25 professionals with double degree, and currently They are 38 in process in universities around the world, schedule to add more than a dozen students this 2025.
“The UPSA internationalization program is something that distinguishes us as a university. Thanks to the agreements we have achieved with recognized higher education institutions, we open a window to the world so that our students acquire high -level knowledge that makes them grow as professionals, while they come into contact with other cultures and other ways of seeing Life, what we are sure, will also grow on a personal level, ”said the rector of the UPSA, Lauren Müller of Pacheco.
Each semester is carried out an act of farewell to UPSA students who go to the program and welcome to foreigners who arrive at the university, together with academic authorities of the University who offer advice and words of motivation to the group of students who will have the responsibility to represent our university and our country during their stay abroad, on the other hand to visitors who will have to join UPSA university life.
Moe Hibino, student of the Industrial Design career, sees this experience as an opportunity to open a space in the labor field. “I entered the UPSA because I saw that I had several exchange options. As we are finishing the race, I want to expand my vision in the labor field and get contacts to work outside, ”he said. Flavia, meanwhile, hopes to meet new cultures and countries: “I chose the University of the Basque Country in Spain because it is a university specialized in exchange. Then we are not going to know the Spanish culture, but of the whole world, of Brazil, of Argentina, of the United States, of England; In addition we can easily travel to other countries in the European Union, ”he said.
Within this same program, the University received a group of 12 students from universities in France, Spain, Mexico and Japan, who will live the experience of studying at UPSA during a semester, who as they said, chose Bolivia for being located in a Strategic place in South America to travel to other countries in the region, to strengthen their knowledge in Spanish, for climate and cross -country culture, and for the academic offer of the UPSA, among other reasons.
Internationalization is one of the strategic pillars that are part of the UPSA 2034 Horizon Plan, which seeks to consolidate the University, as a reference for higher education in Bolivia and the world, developing for it, internationalization projects, aimed at expanding the educational horizon of their students and contributing to the training of their teachers and researchers.
