Havana.- A well-known saying, reservoir of the deep popular wisdom that gave rise to it, teaches us: “There is no worse wedge than the same stick.” I suppose that, in these times, that aphorism has been remembered, and repeatedly, by the Hatazo de Ineptos that, under the formal headquarters of Miguel Díaz-Canelthey continue to govern Cuba’s destinies after having maintained it, and further sunk, in the sterus generated by Castrocomunism.
It is that, as it is known, just over two weeks ago, he returned to the White House of Washington, as the main tenant for a second four -year season, Mr. Donald Trump. We already knew (and the Mayimbes of the Havana “Palace of the Revolution”) that the Castro regime would not have easy under the new administration.
Surely, the fulminating re -link of Cuba in the list of terrorism sponsorship countries (from which he came out “And, for that, for less than a week,” thanks to the complacent position of the previous occupant of the American presidential palace) he served to eliminate any questions about it. But I think there was another decision of Mr. Trump that has caused even greater concern in the high Castro -Munist hierarchy. I mean the appointment of Marco Rubio as new Secretary of State.
First of all, I think it is convenient to leave one thing: the new head of the foreign policy of the United States was born and grew in the great northern country; It would be irrational and unreal – I think – to think that, in the performance of these very high functions, Mr. Rubio is guided by anything other than the legitimate interests of the superpower it represents.
But it is also true that Rubio is the son of Cuban emigrants, that his mother tongue is ours, and that, during his years of training, he met the great disaster enthroned in the country of origin of his parents for the current dictatorial regime of Cuba . If we add to the above the sharp rejection that Mr. Trump and his team feel for communism, I do not say if the Mayimbes From Havana they have plenty of reasons to be very concerned about the presence of Rubio at the head of the State Department!
The first foreign tour of the Cuban American has served to mark important points. In a century, it is the first time that the person responsible for the foreign relations of the United States, after occupying its high position, makes its first visit to countries in our America. Those chosen with that end were Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
In Panama, Washington’s rejection was approached, as a first point to what is described as Chinese penetration in the Panama Canal. The matter gave rise to previous statements from President Trump that caused great media stir. In essence, the tycoon speculated on the possibility that the United States had to make use of the rights granted by the calls “Torrijos-Carter treaties”
Because yes, it should not be forgotten that the one known as “Neutrality Treaty” expressly recognizes the United States law to defend the channel against any threat to the service that it provides to ships of all nations. Although the confrontation conato has not been fully resolved, the Mulino President announced the departure of his country from the economic agreement of the so -called “Silk Route” launched by China.
In El Salvador, Rubio obtained the conformity of President Bukele to host violent criminals of any nationality deported by the United States. In Costa Rica, in addition to showing its support for the oldest democracy in the region, Don Marco offered help to fight drug trafficking and restrict Chinese technologies. In Guatemala he achieved the consent of the Central American country to accept undocumented migrants from other countries that are deported from the United States.
Finally, in the Dominican Republic, Rubio was received by President Abinader, and met his counterpart and other authorities. The prestigious Daily listingin his information, he summed up the issues addressed as follows: “Haiti, rare earth and the fight against drug trafficking, among other issues.” On the first point, it was pointed out: “The country will not be asked to accept a wave of Haitian migrants.”
They stand out, for not having been included in the list, two Central American countries: Nicaragua and Honduras. The first is, as is known, one of the most unpresentable and exalted members of the Castrohavista block. Rubén Darío’s homeland, together with Cuba and Venezuela, was included by the Secretary of State in the “enemies of humanity” countries.
The statements of the Cuban American on his willingness to visit Cuba just to talk about the end of the regime, gave rise to an angry replica of the chancellor of the perennial smile, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla: “The US Secretary of State. He wants to visit Havana, but first change our government. Will stay with the desire. ” And it ends with a lie: “You will not be able to visit Cuba, a country from which you know absolutely nothing.”
Lord “Sin-Casa” (Díaz-Canel) also lashed out against Rubio and alluded to “neo-fascism” prevailing in the great northern country, which he described as “enemy of humanity” (I suppose he will think that he will think that Where there is unch of there is no grievance). By avoiding any responsibility for his disgust in the massive exodus of Cubans, he blamed for it, once again, to… “hardening of the blockade!…
Yes, decidedly, it seems unquestionable that, these days, Mayimbes Havana must have remembered, bitterly, the saying that I cited at the beginning of this journalistic work. The “Rubio Wedge”, American yes, but of pure Cuban roots, must be too hard to the Díaz-Canel and company.
