Interior Minister, Juan José Santiváñezfiled a constitutional complaint with the National Board of Justice (JNJ) against the Prosecutor of the Nation, Delia Espinoza for “very serious infractions.”
The complaint is based on a series of related irregularities regarding the alleged public dissemination of confidential information that the Public Ministry would have committed.
According to Santiváñez, by making public the details of a process that should be kept in reserve, the current regulations are breached and the legality of the proceedings is put at risk, in addition to affecting the privacy guarantee of the people involved.
The complaint also refers to a request from the Prosecutor’s Office to access personal data of the Minister through his mobile device, according to Channel N.
According to the minister, the requirement to enter his Icloud key to access personal data, even his children, has no legal support and could only be ordered by the Judicial Power.
Santiváñez believes that the Public Ministry violates its right to privacy and cited a judgment of the Constitutional Court on the protection of personal data.
