President Gustavo Petro, expressed his support for Judge César Reyes of the Supreme Court of Justiceafter former president Álvaro Uribe accused him of having links with the US agency for international development, Usaid, during the government of Juan Manuel Santos.
In an X message, Petro expressed his solidarity with Judge César Reyes and rejected political persecution.

“All my solidarity with magistrate Reyes. That the history of the microphones in the Plenary Hall and the persecution from the DAS is not repeated. We can dissent, but we respect“said President Petro, referring to episodes of political persecution that occurred in the past.
This happens after the Former President Álvaro Uribe sent to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, a message in his X account, noting that Reyes had been a contractor of that agencywhile questioning the management of funds for the fight against drug trafficking.
“César Reyes, the ‘judge’ who imprisoned me, was a USAID contractor at the service of the Amnesty Agreement of Santos to FARC Narcoterroristas. Mr. Reyes was also a contractor of the Santos Government for the agreement with the FARC while I was one of the leaders in opposition to this agreement. Remember that we won the plebiscite with the vote not that Santos dismissed in clear violation of our Constitution, ”said Uribe in his trill.
