Washington updates the list of sanctioned Cuban entities

Hotel Iberostar Grand Packard, una de las entidades sancionadas

Miami, United States. – The United States Department of State published on February 6 the update of the “List of restricted entities and subsets associated with Cuba” (Cuba Restricted List)that is, the relationship of those companies or Cuban institutions with which direct financial transactions are prohibited under the control regulations of Cuban assets (CACR).

In addition, the Office of Industry and Security (BIS) of the Department of Commerce formalized the limitation in exports and re -exportations of goods for the sanctioned entities.

According to the note that accompanies the update, the publication of the list responds to the implementation of the “National Memorandum of National Security 5”, which requires economic restrictions against companies linked to the military, intelligence and Cuban security apparatus.

The announcement reverses the previous decision of January 16, 2025, when the administration of then President Joe Biden temporarily eliminated the list after the issuance of the “National Security Memorandum 29”.

The same day of his return to the White House, Donald Trump signed a presidential decree in which he ordered to restore the sanctions, which led to the reactivation of the “restricted list of Cuba” in its most recent version.

The State Department warned that the measure seeks to prevent these entities from obtaining financial benefits “at the expense of the Cuban people and the private sector on the island.”

The new version of the “Restricted List of Cuba” It includes all previously sanctioned entities before their temporal elimination, in addition to an additional subsection. This is the Orbit SA company, used by the GAESA business-military conglomerate to operate remittances to Cuba.

Among the entities and subsections included in the list are ministries, state companies, hotel chains, tourist agencies, marine and other companies linked to state control. Here you can consult the complete list:
