In another day of relief to emerging countries, the dollar has fallen again and has reached the lowest since November. The stock market rose, driven by mining companies, and once again surpassed the 126,000 points.
The commercial dollar ended this Thursday (6) sold at R $ 5,764, with a drop of R $ 0.03 (-0.52%). As in most of the last days, the quotation started the day up, reaching R $ 5.83 around 9:15 am, but slowed after the opening of the American markets and fell shortly before 11am. At the low of the day, around 3:45 pm, it reached R $ 5.74.
The US currency has been at the lowest price since November 18. In 2025, the border drops 6.7% per year. The quotation fell by 12 consecutive sessions, from January 17 until this Tuesday (4), and had a small discharge on Wednesday (5).
The stock market had a day of recovery. B3’s Ibovespa index closed at 126,225 points, up 0.55%. In the rise for the second day in a row, the indicator was driven by actions of mining companies and consumer companies, such as airlines and retailers.
Amid the expectation around the dissemination of US labor market data on Friday (7), the dollar fell before all the main currencies. Once again, emerging countries were favored after Donald Trump’s government decision to suspend 25% surcharge on Mexican and Canadian products and negotiate increases with both countries.
In Brazil, the disclosure of data that show the slowdown of industry and services favored the stock exchange. This is because a possible discouragement of the economy would reduce the need for the Central Bank (BC) to raise the Selic rate in May. For the March meeting, the BC has announced that it will make a new rise of 1 percentage point in the basic interest of the economy to 14.25% per year.
