The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, informed that the new Jorge Chávez International Airport has reached a 99 % advance in its construction.
The opening date is scheduled for March 30, conditioned that the operational evidence confirms the proper functioning of the infrastructure.
Pérez Reyes emphasized that any delay in opening is not due to problems with road accesses, but to the need to complete rigorous functioning tests.
In parallel, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has announced important improvements in infrastructure and connection with public transport to facilitate access to the airport.
Works are being executed on Morales Duárez and Faucett avenues, in addition to the construction of bridges in coordination with the municipality of Callao. In addition, The Aerodirect Buses Service will be implemented, which will allow the passengers to be transferred up to 200 meters from the terminaloptimizing user mobility.
As a long -term solution, the authorities evaluate the construction of a monorriel that connects the Quilca Lima Metro station with the airport, which would represent a significant advance in the integration of the public transport system and regional connectivity.
