The candidates have 35 business days to seal alliances and record them to the TSE

The candidates have 35 business days to seal alliances and record them to the TSE

The Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) has already defined the deadlines that mark the final stretch for the general elections and gave 35 business days, until April 18 so that the parties that decide to make alliances to participate in the elections, seal their agreements before the Rector of this process.

The entity also specified that this date will be ratified in the electoral calendar that the TSE will launch the first days of April.

“That period has been defined and will be ratified later in the electoral calendar that will be broadcast on the first days of April until April 18. That is, the political parties that wish to constitute alliances must do so until April 18, ”said the Vice President of the TSE, Francisco Vargas.

In that plane, the TSE prepares an internal regulation that will approve and publish next week, with requirements and rules that the parties must meet alliances.

“Once the regulation enters into force, political parties may be constituted as alliances, among them they will have to have a regulatory document, an internal agreement of political parties and citizen groups that decide to participate in this electoral process as an alliance (…) This period will also be established and ratified in the electoral calendar, ”explained the electoral authority.

Candidate registration

The vice president of the TSE also advanced as a preliminary fact, that political parties and alliances must present the lists of their presidency candidates, vice presidency, senators and deputies the first days of May.

“Possibly the first days of May, political organizations have to present the lists of candidates and candidates,” said Vargas and added that for this task, the TSE will present a system for the registration of candidates for candidates, who also through Their parties and alliances must present the documents that are requirements established by the Political Constitution to register and be enabled as candidates.

“After this, a period of publication of the first list of enabled candidates is opened and from this public In the causes of inelegability, ”said the authority.

Possible alliances

This pre -electoral scenario shows that at least four alliances can be registered between political parties to participate in the general elections, including the coalition provided between opposition parties as a National Unit (UNA), Democrats whose representatives are part of the opposition block to which they adhere Other forces such as the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR). The characteristic of these three parties is that they have legal status to the TSE.

Inside that block is also the Left Revolutionary Front (FRI) that in December 2024, aligned with the application of Jorge Tuto Quiroga that presented the Free Alliance.

Another party that is in search of political alliances and candidates ‘solvents’, is the third system movement (MTS) that since last year makes lobby with the radical fractions that remained from the movement to socialism (more), after the TSE gave it The Personería to the renovators.

The leader of the MTS, Félix Patzi, after discard of the MAS.

And Morales, who for five electoral processes between 2002 and 2019, candidate for the presidency of Bolivia without circumventing any difficulty, now that he is an orphan of acronym and political party, seeks a “borrowed acronym” to register as a candidate for the presidency. It is known that to date he held negotiations with MTS and Panbol, however, apparently without concrete results.

Regarding Evo, after knowing the dates of registration of alliances and registration of candidates of the TSE, the politician said that he will register as a candidate for peace escorted by 100 thousand evidence.

For the politician, the accompaniment of his followers is guarantee that the TSE will register his registration as a candidate. “The day of registration, missing two, three days for the last day (registration), we are going to go thousands of thousands to peace (…) Let’s see that they do not register us,” Morales challenged from their trench in the Chapare.

More games

But in addition to political alliances, there are actors who say they do not need to agree with other parties because their agreement is with the population and will apply only with the endorsement of their party.

Such is the case of the Autonomy Party for Bolivia (APB) Sumate by Manfred Reyes Villa, a party that in the last hours achieved the endorsement of the TSE to participate only in the general elections of August 17.

“The Plenary Chamber has established that the political parties that have legal status, as long as they are not canceled, can participate (of the elections) fulfilling what the Constitution establishes. The Supreme Court will not violate the rights of political organizations and less militants, ”said Vargas.

Another party allegedly enabled by the TSE is the National Renewal Movement (Morena), led by the mayor of El Alto, Eva Cup. She assured that her party would have already obtained her legal status after delivering the notebooks with 107 thousand signatures of militants However, from the electoral entity they clarified that they continue to review the notebooks.
