The Cuban troubadour Eduardo Sosa is in critical condition after suffering a stroke during his stay in Guantanamo, where he participated in the theatrical crusade and in debates of the X Congress of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
Cited by the communicator Carlos Figueroa on Facebook, Marta Bonet, president of the UNEAC, said that the musician “remains in intensive therapy with reserved prognosis” after being subjected to surgical intervention.
The medical authorities point out that although “the operation fulfilled its objective, it does not completely solve the problem of the spill”, for which the next hours will be “crucial” in its evolution.
“It has all the medications that are needed in its treatment. These first 6 hours after surgery are important. Now everything depends on the answer that your body has, ”Figueroa confirmed.
Eduardo Sosa Laurencio, born on April 18, 1972 in Mayarí, province of Santiago de Cuba, began his musical career at age 12.
In 1997, he formed the “Postrova” duo, with which he remained active for five years, a period in which they achieved several milestones, such as their inclusion in the encyclopedic dictionary of Cuban music, as well as the participation in the film Amanda’s prophecies and obtaining the April Award in 1998.
In addition, the duo recorded two albums: POSTROVA, Under the Caribbean Seal Productions and Emi -odeon Spain, and a second album also for Emi -odeón Spain, which remains unpublished.
After the dissolution of POSTROVA At the end of 2002, Sosa continued his solo career, offering concerts throughout the country. Presentations such as Not just, in the Museum of Fine Arts in 2003 and Passing thirty, at the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center in 2004.
Its repertoire covers genres such as traditional, ballads and blues, occasionally incorporating works by other Cuban and foreign composers.
