The special envoy of the White House for Venezuela, Richard Grenell, said on Monday night February 3 that there are at least six other Americans detained in Venezuelan territory, expressing that the negotiations he held with Nicolás Maduro during his visit are a “high secret secret ».
In an interview with the journalist Megyn Kelly, Grenell described as “impressive” the uncertainty that overwhelmed him.
“We were on the runway for two and a half hours waiting and I didn’t know if they were going to deliver them. We all wait on the plane very nervous. I was nervous about what was going to happen when the vehicles arrived (…) I saw that the six were in individual cars and I could see from the other side of the track that someone came out and had a black hood on the head. And I was thinking: ‘This is an American. I am an American diplomat. I have the Air Force behind me on a air force plane. And we cannot stay here standing while an American has a hood on the head and is handcuffed. ‘ So I walked there and each one were taking away the hood and the shackles, I told each individual, go up to the plane, go up to the plane. I am an American diplomat. They go up to the plane right now, ”said Grenell.
He indicated that there were two men who entered the list at the last moment and that is why, in the image that uploaded in their networks inside the American plane, they had no blue uniform or shaved.

He explained that the administration of Nicolás Maduro found two other US citizens to replace them and, since they did not have time to organize, they gave them civil dresses. He noted that the first chosen did not want to participate because they thought it was a lie.
“It is a heartbreaking to think that there were two people who could have been released, but they thought that, once again, this was just a farce of the Venezuelan government. They refused to play the game, without knowing, without realizing that this was real, ”he said.
Richard Grenell insisted that the detainees recovered without money in between and without redeeming, as well as he said that Maduro puts the planes to carry out the return of Venezuelan migrants to the country.
