The states of northern Mexico will be those that will immediately have important effects on their economy due to the imposition of tariffs on all exports from our country, specialists in the financial sector affirmed.

They estimated that the impact of the new rates will have a differentiated effect on the national industries that are more integrated into the manufacturing production of that nation than those that are not; From the outset, the automotive sector – considerate engine of that industry – will be the one with the greatest repercussions.

An analysis by Gabriela Siller, chief economist of the Base Bank, points out that the northern states of our country will be the most affected by the rates that the Donald Trump government will apply, since its economic activity is related to exports, particularly to USA.

In 2024, the value of Mexican exports reached 617 thousand 99.6 million dollars, of which 518 thousand 733 million or the equivalent of 84 percent, are aimed at the United States, calculated the analysis laboratory in economics, trade and businesses of UNAM.

Siller believes that entities with the greatest impact derived from the dependence of exports to the United States are Coahuila, Baja California, Tamaulipas, Campeche, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí and Sonora.

In another analysis of the manufacturing theme, the laboratory indicated that the most affected entities will be Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Baja California, Tamaulipas and Guanajuato, which together contributed 61.4 percent of the total exported sector of the sector.

Separately, BBVA disclosed a study in which he recalls that in recent years the commercial relationship with the United States has increased significantly because most of the investment in export sectors has been originated in that country, as well as by the High integration between the manufacturing areas of both nations.

Tariffs would have a great effect on the Mexican economy and the bilateral relationshipBBVA added, the country’s main financial intermediary.

He considered that a fixed tariff to all Mexican exports will have a differentiated effect according to industries that are more integrated with manufacturing production in the neighboring country.
