Public Ministry begins preliminary proceedings against José Domingo Pérez

The Superior Prosecutor’s Office specialized in corruption crimes of Lima officials announced the beginning of preliminary proceedings against José Domingo Pérez for the alleged crime of peculation of use.

The prosecutor will be investigated after a complaint filed in June 2024, in which he is accused of having used facilities and resources of the State for his defense at a judicial hearing.

The provision was issued on November 27, 2024. Prosecutor Elizabeth Marticorena Patiño assumed the investigation after the first transient Supreme Prosecutor’s Office specialized in crimes committed by public officials sent the case.

The complainant, Luis Miguel Caya Salazar, assured that prosecutor Pérez would have employed his office, as well as electronic equipment and other resources from the Public Ministry to expose his allegations in a hearing of rights guardianship of May 29, 2024.

The aforementioned hearing, broadcast live by justice TV of the Judiciary, was held within the framework of the investigation facing Pérez for alleged specific passive bribery.

The Prosecutor’s Office ordered a 60 -day period for investigation and scheduled Pérez’s investigation statement for February 14, 2025.
