Trump imposes tariffs to Mexico, Canada and China: unleashes War Trade

After a morning playing Golf, President Donald Trump signed on Saturday new executive orders with which he fulfills his promise to impose new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China, which unleashes a commercial war that can have unpredictable impacts on the economy global.

The new tariffs are 25 % for goods in Mexico and Canada (except oil, which is taxed with 10 %) and 10 % for China.

In his social networks, Trump has justified this very announced decision as a measure to combat the fentanyl crisis and illegal immigration.

It is his duty, he said, “protect” his citizens and “guarantee their safety.”

“In my campaign I promised to stop the avalanche of illegal immigrants and drugs that cross our borders, and the Americans voted overwhelmingly in favor,” he added.

Trump invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Law (IEEPA) to implement these measures.

The tariffs enter into force next Tuesday and will be in force until the administration considers that the governments of the countries on which this rise in tariffs are applied have done enough to combat the crisis of the fentanyl, other drugs and the flow of migrants.
