Presbot says government efforts focus on spending transparency

The Director General of Budget, Jose Rijo Presbot, assured that the efforts of the President’s Government Luis Abinader they insist on the spending efficiency and transparency, to raise the quality of life of Dominicans and in the equitable redistribution of State resources.

Rijo highlighted the government’s interest in ensuring that the necessary control is carried out and that the law provides for managing these resources. “Every penny counts and the president has his magnifying glass very focused on that. There is permanent control of how the execution is going and how the resources are distributed. “

“The processes that were violated before, now it is not possible to violate them, because they have to be done in accordance with the law. And that is what we are trying to do, an effort to rationalize spending because on the one hand we decrease, but on the other hand we transfer resources to vital areas, “he said.

Health, housing and water as a priority

In another order, the Director General of the Budget affirmed that investment in health, housing and water has been one of the Government’s great priorities and that, for the first time, the General State Budget has been formulated based on results.

“Every penny of the Budget is oriented to what we are going to achieve, that every plan must be ordered and reconciled with the Budget. There are no beautiful theoretical plans that do not have applicability, ”said Rijo, highlighting the need to prioritize and plan the budget.

He advanced that, as part of this link between the plan and the Budget, “we plan to reach 400 thousand people in outpatient service, for that we have 5,000 million pesos.

Likewise, 611 million medicines to be distributed in the 2,640 People’s Pharmacies throughout the country, which are being enabled and are being improved, ”said the Budget Director.

In that same sense, he recalled more than 5 million 700 thousand Dominicans receive health insurance subsidized by the Government and that this represents an impact of about 6 billion pesos. He also said that for Senasa there will be a transfer of about 39 billion pesos to help subsidize 5,800,000 Dominicans who cannot pay for health services.

Rijo assured that the investment in housing of the Government of President Abinader, exceeds the total investment that had been made in the past 10 years. “In various housing projects and home improvement, around 10 billion pesos have been invested through the INVI,” he said.

Collections

Rijo Presbot announced that the year 2022 has been projected with a deficit of no greater than 3% and that it is estimated that Internal Taxes and Customs will collect about 790 billion pesos. “99.7% of those revenues that come from Internal Taxes and Customs, are taken by six lines, health, education, interest on the debt, the payment of capital, subsidies and social assistance,” he added.

In the same way, he valued the efforts of the taxpayers, who achieved that the collections have exceeded the Government’s estimates.

Constant accountability

Finally, he stressed that the General Budget Office serves a weekly budget execution report that indicates how each peso is being spent in the public administration and how the institutions are executing their expenses, which can be verified on the portal www. digepres.gob.do.

“If there is something we have dedicated ourselves to talking about, it is spending because we understand that the great responsibility is that each peso is really destined to increase the quality of life of Dominicans,” reiterated Rijo Presbot.
