Maduro's government says that meeting with the US was based on migration, sanctions and detainees

The Venezuelan government reported in a statement on the meeting between Nicolás Maduro and the EEUU Special Missions Advisor, Richard Grenelll. According to Venezuela they ratified the need to turn the relations between the two countries


The Venezuelan government published a statement this Friday, January 31, which reported on the meeting between Nicolás Maduro and Richard Grenelll, an advisor for special missions of the US President Donald Trump, which was held at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas in Caracas .

“Yesterday we received a hearing request with President Nicolás Maduro from the special envoy of the United States Government for Venezuela. In the historical line of the Bolivarian Paz diplomacy, this request issued by the White House was accepted, ”the text begins.

According to the Government, the meeting was held after conversations with the Venezuelan delegation headed by Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly and Delcy Rodríguez, executive vice president.

“Nicolás Maduro Moros received the representative of President Donald Trump, and his delegation, in the number one office of the Miraflores Palace where he raised the construction of the zero agenda for a new beginning in bilateral relations,” says a part of the statement.

According to the letter in the meeting, various issues of interest to both countries were addressed: Migration, impact of economic sanctions Against Venezuela, American citizens involving alleged crimes in national territory.

“The need to turn relationships was also ratified,” says the statement.

The Venezuelan government added that they made clear its “willingness to maintain open diplomatic channels with the United States in the defense of the inalienable rights and interests of the Venezuelan people.”
