The LGBTQia Casarão Brasil Association, based in São Paulo, launched on Wednesday (29), National Day of Trans Visibility, this year’s edition of its calendar, with honors to trans people who have some connection with the entity. Existing since 2021, the calendar has also become a way to do, even simply, that people outside the trans and transvestite community understand that it is a different group, which contributes to reducing stereotyped ideas .
The initiative was supported by Gilead Sciences do Brasil, which also collaborates with other actions of Casarão Brasil. The association has been active for 16 years and has developed a well -articulated service system, which combines housing, education, employment, health and psychosocial services. In all, there are, on average, 1.3 thousand calls per month.
Patrycia Pellegrini, 52, is the face that illustrates the November page of the calendar. The Paulistana had a route with a pleasant surprise that turned their daily lives and self -esteem.
For a certain period, he faced difficulties in getting a job and, like many trans and transvestites, tried to life abroad. He returned to the country of origin by feeling assaulted with proposals that would put her at an even higher risk, as a sex professional, and, on the way, won a job at the house, which had already been a point of refuge for her. The management of the entity realized that Patrycia had a profile to perform one of the functions in the team and hired her.
Today, she has a family and more peace of mind, knowing that she has financial autonomy and has qualities that can be valued. The next plan, after completing high school recently, is to study Social Work.
“The life of us, we want it to be the best. Having a space, a decent housing, dignity to be able to follow,” synthesizes Patrycia.
Also like many trans and transvestites, he saw many friends become victims of violence, including lethal. Despite the achievements and being fully respected in the professional environment, in the family, transphobia still persists. Her relatives, Kardecist spiritists, to this day call her by the dead name, that is, the baptism and the male genre, something that bothers her.
Patrycia made her transition at 18, which, she laments, is plenty of time to assimilate. For her, it represents a repeated gesture of disrespect.
Regarding the beneficiaries of the services offered by the entity, Patrycia assumes to have been lucky and seeks to encourage them to run after what they want, as she did. “I want you to change, walk,” he says.
