Santo Domingo.- The Dominican ambassador to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, reported that the deportations of irregular Dominican migrants carried out by the Donald Trump government towards the Dominican Republic is something normal and routine that has been carried out all these years.
Guzmán indicated that the United States Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) works in coordination with the Dominican Embassy in that nation for years, notifying the cases of deportations carried out every week.
The diplomat said that the flights of one hundred and peak of illegal migrants have been coming to the Dominican Republic all these years, weekly and that on some exceptional occasions they have reached up to three and four flights in a week, so that the situation qualifies as normal .
“It is a delicate and human issue, but, as we have the right to repatriate people who are not legally in RD, since each country has the right to return to their land migrants who do not meet the requirements of being in that territory And that is inevitable, ”said Guzmán.
The ambassador called on Dominicans residing in the United States to maintain their immigration status and comply with the current laws of that nation.
He pointed out that the main cases of mass deportations that have been registered in New York and in other cities have been mostly migrants who arrived by the southern border, not necessarily of Dominicans, and just as there was an unusual flow of migrants will also register a flow greater or unusual repatriated, according to the new provisions of President Donald Trump.
