Santo Domingo.- The drivers of the National Student Transport System (BRING) They are randomly subjected to Psychometric and anti -doping tests to guarantee the safety of students.
Onésimo González, director of the Bring, explained that initially the tests were carried out nationwide, but because it is a dynamic system, it was decided to do them randomly.
“In some places, drivers have all gathered for the evaluation process, but when talking about anti -doping tests, some disappear from the stage,” said the official during his participation in the weekly lunch of the Corripio Communications Group.
He stressed that performing the tests random is the most effective way to maintain control and inspection to avoid deviations.
González also pointed out that they have a project to implement a technological center similar to those with many private companies.
He explained that the private companies that provide the service provide buses, fuel and maintenance, while the Ministry of Education pays drivers.
Companies provide service in Hato Mayor, San Cristóbal and Gran Santo Domingo.
Inclusive buses
The director of the Student Transportation System also announced that they have the acquisition of adapted buss for children with special conditions throughout the national territory.
“There are children with disabilities, and parents have a lot of money transporting them, so we have acquired 50 buses with elevators to transport them with dignity,” he emphasized.
He indicated that 30 buses are already in circulation and have been distributed throughout the country.
“We started the project at the Labor School to disabled in the Virgin, the victory … we do it with love,” said González.
Operations
He has already operates in 29 provinces and the National District, and has reached a 97% coverage of the projected student population, which has represented a saving of RD $ 6,000 million in transport costs for Dominican families.
He also stressed that they aspired to make drivers women, but they found that few women have a category 3 license. Therefore, the auxiliaries of the transport system are women.
Transports 160 thousand students daily
Since its implementation, the system has transported 160,000 students, exceeding its initial 150,000 goal.
The project that started in January 2023, via the Ministry of Education, has reduced excessive costs for transport costs, positively impacting the budget of families, according to Onéximo González, director of the Bring.
González said that the system is still expanding, although in some places the increase is modest, in others such as Santiago, where it was implemented just two months ago, 175,000 students have already been transported to date.
However, some destinations have not been counted due to the mountainous geography of the area, which has forced to modify the bus fleet in those areas.
González stressed that the system has a fleet of 1,840 buses, which has become the largest transport company in the country.
