Officials of the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences and the Corps of Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC), in addition to experts in environmental crimes were presented at the morgue of the Santos Aníbal Dominicci hospital, in Carúpano, Bermúdez municipality, Sucre state; To carry out the experts of two dolphin bodies found on the coasts of the jurisdiction, on January 5 and 6 of this year.
At the head of the investigations around the death of the dolphins found on the coast of Carúpano, there are Dr. César Rojas, of Forensic Medicine and the Chief Commissioner, Jeans Rodríguez, of the Scientific Police.
According to reports from the security and protection bodies, about 17 findings of these mammals have been counted in the entity since the last months of the year 2024 and in the month of January 2025.
The dolphins have been found lifeless in various beaches in the city of Carúpano such as: the Uveros, Copey, Uncle Pedro, Guayacán, Pescador, Güiria and Puerto Martínez.
It is noteworthy that last November of the year 2024, environmental authorities such as the Ministry of Eco Socialism, the Socialist Institute of Fishing and Aquaculture (Insopesca), the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA), Public Defensoría and Entities Security, they held a series of meetings, with the objective that the Prosecutor’s Office with Environmental Competition ordered the investigation process to determine the causes of the deaths of these mammals that keep the inhabitants of the area alert.
