He said the plan considers the installation of 20,938 new installation sites with a total of 66,600 new cameras, of which 41,876 will be “totems”, that is, systems that work through help buttons and 24,724 in nine -meter posts with Seismic alert systems.
He said that increasing the number of cameras, gives the authority of security and procurement better tools of action and prevention.
“They are a fundamental tool for the investigation of criminal acts, the Ministry of Citizen Security, is the first instrument they use to stop, so the C5 must be reinforced,” he said.
The 10 priority colonies
Salvador Guerrero, coordinator of the C5, informed that based on express requests to the security authorities, through Tuesday citizens and the “house by house” routes, as well as a criminal incidence map, 10 colonies were taken into account in four mayorships where the reinforcement and installation of new cameras will be a priority.

- Doctors, Guerrero, Rome Norte, Obrera and Morelos in Cuauhtémoc.
- Pedregal Santo Domingo in Coyoacán

- Santa María Aztahuacán in Iztapalapa
- Moctezuma 2nd Section in Venustiano Carranza.
“There are currently more than 83,000 cameras and the gradual plan around 2030 is to reach 150,000 cameras,” he said.
The official stressed that with the 83,414 cameras that the C5 has, the capital is placed as the most videovigilada city in America, even, surpassing New York, Atlanta and Chicago in the United States.
He said that once the installation of the 150,000 cameras is completed, Mexico City will exceed Seoul, in South Korea, which has 144,515 cameras or London, England, with 127,423.
