In four years, MPT firm 1,728 agreements to combat slave labor

The Public Prosecution Service (MPT) has signed, over the past four years, 1,728 Terms of Conduct Adjustment (TAC) to combat slave labor and trafficking in persons, as well as guaranteeing rights of rescued workers. In 2024 alone, the MPT signed 478 TACs resulting from the participation in task forces, the closing of civil inquiries or agreements in public civil actions. Data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment They show that, last year, more than two thousand workers submitted to degrading conditions were rescued.

Rescue operation

In a statement, the MPT highlighted Operation Rescue IV, held between July and August 2024, which removed 593 workers of contemporary slave labor conditions. The number is 11.65% higher than the total rescued of the operation performed in 2023, when 532 workers were rescued.

In all, more than 23 inspection teams participated in 130 inspections in 15 states and the Federal District.

“This joint action to combat slave labor and trafficking in people in Brazil is the result of the effort of six institutions: Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), Labor Prosecutor (MPT), Federal Public Prosecution Service (MPF), Public Defender’s Office of Union (DPU), Federal Police (PF) and Federal Highway Police (PRF) ”, concluded the statement.
