The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gilsaid that the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, “continues to demonstrate his sickly obsession for damaging Venezuela,” after he stated his country’s support to the Government of Guyana.
“Marco Rubio, enemy of our country, as Secretary of State, continues to demonstrate his sick obsession for damaging Venezuela. Now he tries to support the fantasies of the Government of Guyana, who intends to strip us of the historical rights that our liberators bequeathed and that are inalienable part of our sovereignty, ”Gil said through his telegram channel.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed that the only legitimate and valid path to resolve the territorial controversy over the Esequiba Guayana is through compliance with the Geneva Agreement of 1966.
“Neither the evil interference with our enemies, nor can artera can twist this reality,” he emphasized.
Gil also added that the Government of Guyana must understand that its obligation is not with third parties, but with the history, international law and peace of the region, “for which it must sit at the table and negotiate with the bases set by the Geneva agreement ”.
The Foreign Minister accompanied his message with an image about a telephone exchange between the Secretary of State and the president of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, in which the issue of Venezuela was addressed.
