The Attorney General of the Union (AGU) reported that he filed a lawsuit to charge R $ 725 million for environmental damage caused in the Pantanal.
The public civil action was filed on Friday (24) to ask for three major environmental offenders to reimburse the use of chainsaws and forest fires to overthrow about 6,400 hectares located in Corumbá (MS). The agency asks for a amount of R $ 212 million to be paid for each year of damage.
The irregularities were investigated by the Federal Police Operation Prometheus (PF), launched in September last year to combat illegal fires, deforestation and the exploitation of federal government land in the Pantanal.
The action has reports and photos that prove the environmental damage caused against the biome. In addition to civil liability, the accused must also be triggered by damage to the criminal and administrative spheres.
The AGU also requested the court to block the assets of the accused and to determine the elaboration of a plan for the recovery of the degraded areas.
