“Anti -Semitism, like racism, is a crime in Brazil. It must be made clear that to be on the agenda of the daily lives of people again the fear that when you make a gesture, it participates in a demonstration or defends a Nazi idea or anti -Semitism, know that it will be punished by law . You can’t ignore it, you can’t pretend that the law doesn’t exist, ”says the Boliviana based in Brazil

On Monday (27), when events in various parts of the world resemble the 80th anniversary of the release of the Auschwitz extermination camp in Poland, under the dominance of the Soviet troops, during World War II, vehicles of Brazil Communication Company (EBC)Brazil agency, National radio and TV Brazil – They talked to Clara Ant, who is currently special advisor to the Presidency of the Brazilian Republic.

Neo -Nazi

Clara perceives the neo -Nazi manifestations as attempts to erase actions against Nazism in humanity. “We are in a moment, in a world that starts from politics, humanity, of those who lead is destructive, predatory of culture, thought, humanity in its fullest meaning.”

About gesture made twice By the South African billionaire Elon Musk, to hit the chest tightly with his right hand and emphatically extend his arm after the inauguration ceremony of US President Donald Trump, on the 20th, Clara Ant understands that it was a greeting Nazi unequivocal.

“The key to this is misinformation cultivated by the far right and its leaders who work to misinform and to prevent people from having discernment. On the one hand, they talk to those who will like the gesture and, on the other hand, pretend a ‘not with me’, so that no one has to do with the greatest tragedy of humanity, Nazism. ”

It emphasizes that there must be an effort against misinformation about the Holocaust. Clara points out the rescue of the true history of the African people in Brazil thanks to education and national laws such as the 2010 Racial Equality Statute, and the Racial Quotas Law. “The misinformation that existed about slavery today has a barrier in knowledge. I think the same thing has to be amplified with regard to neo -Nazism and anti -Semitism. Both are crimes in Brazilian law. ”

Clara explains that neo -Nazi attitudes cannot be covered. “We can’t let cloth on the messages like that period [a Segunda Guerra Mundial]. Every day, we have to be alert to democracy, because its preservation is the best way to prevent racism, Nazism, anti -Semitism will take revenge in some country. ”

The activist also argues that awareness work is done to combat religious intolerance that pursues Jews in Brazil.

80 years of Auschwitz’s Liberation

At the time of the release of Auschwitz’s extermination field from the Nazi rule by the Red Army during World War II, about 7,000 prisoners were released in January 1945.

Auschwitz is considered the largest extermination camps in history and his fall is understood as a milestone in the defeat of Nazism. It is estimated that between 1.1 million and 1.3 million people were murdered there, mostly Jews.

January 27 was instituted by the United Nations (UN) in 2005 as International Day in Memory of Holocaust victims, the genocide committed by the German Nazis and which systematically killed, between 1939 and 1945, 6 million Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, communists, blacks, people with disabilities, among other groups considered racially inferior by Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler.

Annually, the date brings together survivors, authorities and civil society representatives to keep the victims’ memory alive; Remember the attempt to exterminate, above all, of the Jewish people; other crimes committed in the period; In addition to preventing these twentieth -century events from recurring.

In Brazil, the Israeli Confederation of Brazil (CONIB) posted in its social network about the importance of keeping alive the memory of this chapter in the history of humanity. “Remembering is not just an act of resistance, it’s a commitment to life.” And he added that anti -Semitism (prejudice and discrimination against Jews) is racism.

In the Holocaust, most of the murders occurred in concentration camps, designed for slave labor and mass extermination, through shooting and gas chambers. Mostly in eastern Europe, the Nazis have established about 15,000 fields and concentration subfles in countries occupied by Nazi Germany.
