In five months, 112 judges and ministers resigned or retired

From August to December 2024, around 112 judges and ministers resigned from their positions or requested their anticipated retirement, in the context of the judicial reform, in which for the first time in the history of the country the charges of judges will be defined by vote popular next June. According to statistics from the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF), in that period the number was reduced from 1,655 to 1,543 justice imparters.

Juan Pablo Gómez Fierro, who was a member of the fourteenth collegiate court in administrative matters, was one of those who presented their resignation last October, after notifying the Senate who would not participate in the processes of popular election to occupy the position of circuit magistrate , considering that the constitutional reform to the Judiciary, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation On September 15, it is contrary to the values ​​of the Republic and the division of powers.

Rodrigo de la Peza López Figueroa also presented his resignation that month. When both were district judges in administrative matters, specialized in economic competence, broadcasting and telecommunications, they reached relevance due to the suspensions granted against the laws in hydrocarbons, electricity and biometric record for cell phone users.

Other councils took advantage of the fact that the CJF made modifications to the complementary pension plan for judges and magistrates, after the constitutional reform into the judiciary, which gives them the possibility of requesting their anticipated withdrawal and receiving in a life manner services of the ISSSTE.

According to the Council records, in August 2024 there were 1,655 magistrates and judges assigned to the CJF. As of September, the figure decreased to 1,612, in October 1,609 togados were counted, November 1,571 and December closed with 1,543 magistrates and judges.

The data reflects that from November 16, 2023 to November 15, 2024, 2 million 24 thousand 297 issues, distributed between collegiate circuit courts, Collegiate Courts of Appeal, District Courts, District Courts, Federal Justice Centers , a National Center for Justice Specialized in Control of Research Techniques, Arrangement and Intervention of Communications and Federal Labor Courts.

On the other hand, a million 920 thousand 47 issues graduated. The final existence reported by the jurisdictional bodies was 706 thousand 419 at the end of said period, while the resolution rate was 94.87 percent. It indicates that the installed capacity of the Judicial Power of the Federation as of November 15, 2024, not counting the auxiliary bodies, is 260 collegiate circuit courts, 39 Collegiate Courts of Appeal, 429 District Courts, 42 Federal Justice Centers , 132 Federal Labor Courts and a National Center for Justice Specialized in Control of Research Techniques, Entry and Intervention of Communications distributed in 32 jurisdictional circuits.
