I am going to give reasons from my being an independent Frente Amplio, Afro and Afroumbandista woman, why I give you my confidence in a vote to preside over the Frente Amplio Ivonne Passada, not only for what you can do now for our organization and militancy, which is surely important. and necessary, but because of the social and political experiences that support you, many of which we have shared.
Your contribution as that of each colleague and companion, is appreciated and significant in the construction of the structure of the FA, and more in a restructuring according to the times, with dimensions and more diverse and inclusive political fields to achieve Uruguay better than for a long time. we seek and deserve; plural, egalitarian, with institutionally contemplated intersectionalities, without sexist or cultural predominance, developed, without discrimination, with a powerful state that protects the weakest, affirming economic sovereignty in regional alliances that ensure resources for the peoples on this side of the world. world, without impositions of any kind or historical asymmetries of power between men and women, with respect and enjoyment of the difference, without machismo, free from violence whatever, where our gurisada can grow in harmony and happiness, being educated in a multicultural teaching , anti-racist and multiethnic, contributing in a symbolic building that requires us to be committed as citizens, where the contribution of the majority of the population, which we are female compatriots, is valued, their intellectual and sensitive gaze on labor, cultural, social, financial issues, his experience and knowledge in all aspects.
I am going to vote for you in December when the jasmine blooms in the Río de la Plata, for the trust that you earned over so many years of belting for the Front, for your persistent, meticulous, consistent work, done with the same degree of tenacity. than humility. Your delivery was paradoxically always outstanding although almost anonymous, without looking at who was looking at you.
And I saw you, as we saw you so many and so many.
I saw you leading the union movement of officials of our Labor University, also there in Malvín Norte, the neighborhood where you have one of your wishes among other territories. I saw you in rural landscapes, when you had to go out together to do kilometers forging decentralization by different departments and their particularities that always worried you. Press media, committees, towns, traveled tirelessly with the mission that strengthened the soul, although at times the anguish of leaving the family for the public welfare overwhelms us more, it is an unwritten law.
We interact with you, being in charge of dealing with your sector during the 2009 electoral campaign, with organizational and negotiating responsibilities before support groups and alliances.
You were accompanying me in the presentation of my first book “Between Religion and Politics” maybe you don’t even remember it. I saw you in Parliament in both houses. I also observed you in the vice presidency of the Broad Front. And when with audacious womanly you projected yourself to the municipal government being a candidate for mayor with the scaffolding of your works as support, pure effort and dignity like many of us. Because for women it is always more difficult, and even so we are excited to be part of the positive processes radiating tenacity, hope, solidarity, experts in the essential ant work for collective constructions.
And I’m also going to vote for you because I feel like it; in the use of freedom of conscience in all aspects, not only racial and gender, required by the ideal of a country without exclusions, a cause that mobilizes those of us who believe in changes towards equal rights and opportunities.
I don’t vote for you just on your merits; I vote you for me, for my granddaughters, for my daughter, and for the sons and daughters of the future that has already arrived, for the guarantee that we need that there is equal sensitivity in the places of decision and in the power dispute, to generate egalitarian conditions from the heart of politics not only in discourse.
The naturalization of social and racial equity, of diverse identities and more, will be seen by other generations, in any case we will have the group and intimate satisfaction of having collaborated responsibly. Enough of written and spoken words without effective and concrete wills. People urgently need a political force with which they can identify. The male predominance resistant to opening spaces, currently undermines the credibility of the Frente Amplio message that claims to be progressive.
If we do not change, we run the risk of obsolescence and I do not say this because of anyone’s age but because of the inadequacy of the population, which in the end is not represented in its indisputable almost 52%.
Humanity is gradually coming out of the old error that led us to male supremacies that for centuries prevented the advantages of egalitarian societies, due to the crushing of feminine visions and virtues in the leadership and paradigms of our planetary communities. Where violence prevailed due to the confrontations of brute force as a basis of relationship which gave rise to various perversions in the face of the denial and criminalization of other forms of totally valid and peaceful forms of even sexual encounters. A social and cultural process created that has consolidated an unjust and harmful system for modern societies that want to advance in a better life, less violent, more participatory and collaborative, more representative of the largest half of the world’s inhabitants.
We are in defining times. If everything does not change, nothing changes and I want to be a participant in what is to come. I want to help in my closeness and within the political party that I love to plan a party in an egalitarian key, without patriarchal contamination that no one supports, nor male over-representations that attack the quality of our democracy.
I also invite you to think and vote for women.
Because see if there is just one vote missing for Ivonne and it’s yours!
