Arequipa, Peru – The Secretary of State in the United States, Marco Rubio, condemned on Friday the complicity of the Castro regime with fugitives and terrorists from that North American country.
Through A publication in X (Before Twitter), Rubio’s complaint is the first mention of Cuba in his new account of that platform, created after the confirmation of the position on January 20 within the cabinet of President Donald Trump.
“On the 50th anniversary of the tragic bombing of the Francés tavern, we honor the memory of those who perished. Cuba continues to house and providing safe refuge to American fugitives and terrorists, ”wrote the Secretary of State.
Likewise, the Cuban -American politician demanded that “US fugitives sought under the protection of the Cuban regime be taken before justice.”
It is estimated that around 70 fugitives have been welcomed by the Cuban regime. It is, in most cases, people who have been accused of crimes of kidnapping, murder, and other drug -related offenses.
The explosion of the Frances tavern in New York, which Marco Rubio remembers in its publication, is considered one of the most violent terrorist acts in the history of the city and was part of a series of extremist attacks that impacted the country during the decade of the 70.
The tragedy occurred on January 24, 1975, when members of the FALN, a Puerto Rican nationalist group, placed a bomb in the tavern, leaving about four dead and about 40 injured.
One of those responsible for the tragedy, William “Guillermo” Morales, fled from the United States and is part of the dozens of fugitives and terrorists that the Castro dictatorship welcomed on the island.
In that sense, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, revoked the order of the Biden administration on Monday to take Cuba of the List of sponsoring states of terrorism.
According to confirmed An official note of the White House, the order is registered within a series of initial disorders of decrees and executive measures considered “harmful” by the new administration.
