During 2021, the production of technified corn had a growth of 27.5%which corresponded to a total of 582,000 tons.
This offer meant a decrease in imports of this product. As it was, it was reduced, in more than 122,000 tonsthe amount of corn that entered Colombia this year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, this amount was absorbed by national production, “due to the high price that is handled abroadr”.
This begins to reflect a decline in corn imports.
In terms of proportions, these 122,000 tons are comparable to the capacity of almost 3,500 truckstransporting 35 tons each.
Minister Rodrigo Enrique Zea Navarro indicated that this fulfills the “objective, which is to promote corn and soybean crops, thus gradually reducing imports of these and other cereals”.

With this initiative, 162 business appointments have been achieved with sales expectations of 65 billion pesos.
