Saint Dominic.-The Ministry of Education (Minerd) reported yesterday that it will be in April when more than 120 thousand teachers in the pre-university education sector will be summoned to the Teacher Performance Evaluation (EDD), which seeks to improve the quality of teaching.
The information was offered by the Vice Minister of Teacher Accreditation and Certification, Francisco de Óleo, who indicated that only teachers who achieve a rating of 70 points or more will receive financial incentives scaled according to how they approach the level of excellence.
Meanwhile, those who do not manage to exceed the assessment of 70 points will be subject to a development plan through the deployment of quality improvement strategies and actions that favor their professional practice.
De Óleo reiterated Minerd’s call to the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) to participate in the evaluation as one of the main actors. It is recalled that this was one of the points that the union protested about months ago.
He clarified that the ADP has been one of the institutions that, since the beginning of the constitution of the national commission organizing the performance evaluation, has played a determining role.
He also urged the educational community and representatives of the interested social, academic, political, religious and business sectors to participate as observers and companions of the different phases of the EDD.
To ensure that the evaluation is objective, fair and transparent, the institution will work with the Dominican Institute for Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (IDEICE), the Salomé Ureña Higher Teacher Training Institute (ISFODOSU), the National Institute of Training and Training of Teaching (INAFOCAM), universities and experienced specialists in the pre-university educational system.
Under the coordination of the Vice Ministry of Accreditation, technical commissions and work teams review the evaluation instruments and protocols.
